Readers who responded to our revenue cycle management (RCM) poll last month indicated that new systems, changing leadership, and mergers and acquisitions were the biggest challenges they faced in RCM. Over one fourth, almost 27 percent, of respondents indicated vendor management as a top challenge, while 15 percent stated changing payer requirements was their largest task. Lastly, just 7 percent noted consumerism and associated demands as their most significant RCM challenge. These responses indicate that while over one fourth of the industry is experiencing issues with vendor management, majority are dealing with organizational changes that make the management of their revenue cycle challenging, which can ultimately result in lost revenue.
